Addressing the Demographic Challenge: Insights from an Inspiring Evening

  • News

Last Wednesday, representatives from the Greeks in the City Association | Ένωση Ελλήνων Επαγγελματιών Λονδίνου had the privilege of attending the event “Demographic Trends: Challenges and Responses” organised by the Greek Embassy in London.

The evening brought together policymakers, experts, and civil society to discuss the pressing issue of hashtag#demographic change from an international, European, as well as Greek perspective.

The discussions were both insightful and inspiring with the below distinguished speakers providing a comprehensive overview of demographic trends, challenges, and solutions:

Mónica Ferro, Director of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
Prof. Melinda Mills, MBE, Professor of Demography and Population Health at the University of Oxford and Director of the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science, University of Oxford
Jaime de Villota, Head of the Citizens and Justice and Home Affairs Section at the European Union Delegation to the United Kingdom

The event also highlighted initiatives making a tangible impact in Greece, including:

HOPEgenesis NPO
Oinoussai Benevolent Fund
New Life in the Village of Fourna

We would like to thank the Greek Embassy in London for hosting this important discussion and all the speakers for their valuable contributions.

As Greeks in the hashtag#diaspora, we recognise the importance of addressing demographic challenges and look forward to supporting initiatives that foster sustainable solutions.
